Fellow Avaiators,

Can any one give me some advice - Is it better to have white or a dark colour on the top of the engine cowling of a traditional type aircraft that has the engine in front ?

What gives better overall viz please ?

Cheers ian

Nice mat black. No reflections and you can concentrate on the view

Thanks Morph, thats what I thought... just wondered why there are so many AC's with glossy white paint on top of the cowl... perhaps I was missing something.

Ian,

Technically speaking, matt black offers the least "glare" back into the cockpit - but is sure looks ugly !!!!

The Savannah nose is not so prominent in the cockpit, so you would be well justified to maintain "body colour" there too....

Of the few examples I've flown, none had the blackened nose and sun glimmer never posed and problem....

One of the customers planes nearing compeltion down here has been painted yellow and blue - I'll say no more than "you sure won't miss it in the sky"..... (redefines the term Fugly.... :D )

I saw a pic of it... It must be for the police ...

So what you are telling me is as long as I keep the top of the dash black then the nose colour does not come into play ?
