Hose Clamps

Postby Nacho » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:31 am

I am busy replacing all my piping. Water oil and fuel. I noticed 99% of the problems experienced is the clamps holding them, in most instances Builders Warehouse garden hose clamps. All pipes are damaged at the ends.

I did some research and found clamps that works on the same principle, but it has a smooth inner layer, thus not damaging your pipes. They are also designed to lock when you turn them to the desired position. Thus they can't vibrate loose. They are a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. And obviously... Made in Germany. (-)

Thanks Nacho. I agree the clamps we use are not up to standard. The clamps you are refering to are made by Norma and work very well. They are available from big irregation suppliers. The only problem I found is that they do not make clamps small enough for our fuel lines (8mm to 18mm). Oetiker (also German) make the perfeckt clamps (2,9mm to 30,7mm clamp range) that clamp evenly all the way around the pipe with minimal distortion of the pipe. These are the ones used on on car fuel lines. If I can find an outlet in Pretoria I will replace all mine with these clamps.

We use clamps called an "O-clamp" supplied by Hose Solutions in Stikland, Cape Town area. It has a little "ear" on both sides which can be pulled together with a pliers similar to a tile nipper. They even have very small clamps ideal for fuel lines.
