I am looking for a handheld to install in the trike (and to listen to at home when the bulls are playing )

Must be powered by the trike, (battery is backup) so needs a dc feed.
Reasonable battery life with spares availability.
121.5 selection push button
2nd channel monitoring 124.8 would be good - I find the bliks change channels quicker than I do in the GF.
What are you using & pros and cons.
I have done some internet research & there's quite a lot out there (various brand names as well.)
Looking for something +-3 500.
I would think a license will be required to purchase.

I got a Yaesu FTA-230 (the same as the Vertex VXA 220 - Vertex was bought out by Yaesu)

Pros:
It does everything you need, and it's compatible with any intercom system.
The battery lasts really long, and has a standard charge adapter to plug into the plane's power
It comes with a portable antenna
It comes with a desktop charger and a spare battery pack (yes, you can put normal AA batteries in them)
It comes with a 2 plug headset adapter, and you can buy an inline PTT switch that'll give you a full radio setup for those times when the intercom's playing up and you just want to go fly.
Works beautifully on the trike, as well as when listening to air traffic at home.

Cons:
You'll need to get an adapter if you want it to run from a Buzzcom or Airmagic intercom system, like any other radio type though.
I paid just over R4500 for mine at Comet Aviation, so it's a little pricey new.
