582 blue top coils

Postby zoobie » Tue May 20, 2014 7:16 pm

Greetings fellow aviators.

Recently I started getting a slight misfire at random. I checked everything that I could, replaced plugs, cleaned carbs, synchronized then, etc.

Then I found a few articles on this forum which led to further articles from the States and it appears that the 582 is prone to coil failures.

Today I checked he resistance of the charging coils...the one is 250 ohms...the other one 196 ohms.

The lighting coils shows zero ohms.

Could this cause the slight misfire...?

do I have to replace the whole coil pack or is there anyone who has had theirs rewound, if yes, please advise where in the JHB/Pretoria area I can do this..

I believe a new coil from the agents costs approx. R 7000

many thanks
