Radio help

Postby Percy Smit » Fri May 16, 2014 11:25 am

Hi All,

I need some help regarding my radio on my Windlass 503. My old radio (not sure the make but foresure old) was not reliable and continually had problems with TX and /or RX. I replaced this with an Icom A3E.
Using a Buzzcom intercom system.
However i can hear when others RX, hear my PAX but as soon as i push PTT all goes dead and no TX indication on my radio, when i release PTT, all back to normal...
The only way i can communicate TX is by doing this direct on the handheld...
Short version everything work 100% except when i have to TX...
Could this be earth, wiring swop needed to newer type radio on intercom or PTT problem

Thank you
Percy

Sounds like a PTT problem...

Thanks Nicow,

But why is it working 100% on my old none reliable radio that i still have?
My thinking is that something is not inline with the newer radio or intercom wiring? .PTT is still doing the same work , i only unplugged old radio en plugged in new radio

Sounds like a difference in wiring of the old and new external PTT, Microphone and Speaker conections to the Buzzcom. Speak to Larry Eschner the manufacturer of Buzzcom (zero ate too for one zero1 5 3 2).

Good day all,

As mentioned by Mulderpm in this posting to get hold of Larry at Busscom ..... Tried many times on the number but only get a voicemail to leave a message.... 2 weeks later no reply. I even went to Edenvale to book in my sick intercom system for repairs at Buzzcom..... The address is non existance....
Anyway......Radio/Intercom sorted by Deon/Johan in Benoni... the older type buzzcom intercom was improved to work with the new Icom radio... :P . Fitted/ connected all on friday and working 100%.
