Postby JvSchalkwyk » Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:05 pm

Anybody have an idea where I can get a torque wrench calibrated? Its a small Craftsman, 10-75ft/lbs.

You can do it your self if your have a spring balance that you know to be accurate and reads in lbs,

Clamp the square drive in a vice....hook the spring balance at a point 12ins from the square drive on the wrench body...the wrench should click over at the correct poundage on the spring balance when the wrench is pulled with it.

To be used in aviation the calibration needs to be done by a SANAS accredited facility. You can not do the calibration yourself, unless you are registered of course. You can find the list here http://www.sanas.co.za/af-directory/cal ... n_list.php

Wow, thanks KFA - just learned something. So it has to be serviced by somebody on that list? Not too many torque places on that list though...
