I have been having a battle to the right static rpm for a very long time now and today I made the discovery of a lifetime. I bummed a optical tach from a friend of mine, took it to the field and warmed her up. Previously I could only get 6000 max. Today I went to 3000 indicated and then checked the prop rpm. I got 1100-1200 fluctuating. Now I ave a ratio of 2.93. Now correct me if Im wrong but isnt 1100 times 2.93 uhm 3223? and the rpm was indicating 3000. I went to max engine rpm (6000 indicated) and I got 2200 prop rpm. Once againthe calc doesnt work out.

There is lesson here, do not always trust one instument as they can be wrong. This mistake has cost me endless troubles, time worries and even money. Im an idiot.
