According to Avdex, there are 36 Aviatika aircraft registered.
Is this the Russian biplane?
Single engine?

If you dont come right here - try http://www.avcom.co.za/phpBB3/memberlis ... ile&u=2429 He has a double seater Aviatika.

You may have to wait for a response for a few days - he is part of the CANSA’s message takes to the Southern Africa Skies tour.

Personally I've never been a fan of Aviatikas. Could never understand the big whoaah, esp the 2-seater. Overdesigned, to heavy... bad glide ratio... Need at least a 912 to fly with more peace of mind. Have flown one at Fisantekraal (close to sea level) some years ago together with Louis van Wyk and remembered I was dissapointed in the performance which didn't get anywhere near what I was used to when flying with my brother (who is of comparable weight to Louis) in a Thunderbird MkII (582 engine) at Blue Hills Midrand. I won't try to do aerobatics (as mentioned by someone) with the 2 seater in the binneland ...
I'd rather look at other options, T/bird as mentioned, Cheetah, etc...

And... maintenance of the airframe, parts... stock...?

I see you're in Phalaborwa, not sure how good it will fly on hot days. You might find yourself grounded more often than you want if you don't have a 914 "strapped on"...

Others might beg to differ due to their experience.

Thanks for the comments, you are correct Agair on a hot day in Phalaborwa you need a serious strap - we are restoring a two seater with a Rotax 912 UL motor, as mentioned the workmanship on the Aviatika is outstanding which makes it heavier than other LSA - not planning to do aerobatics.

Like mentioned I am trying to source more info on the plane ie: Glide Ratio

Hi Almal

groete
