Hi guys,
Anyone know where to get one of those tools to crimp Nicopress cable sleeves?
Aircraft Spruce sells them, but they are ..... [Cough!] .... expensive.

I saw one at Media Hydraulics last week for around R2000...
If you only need to do a few cables, this $20 one from Spruce is probably the best bet:

The $20 version is a lot easier to use than the big handled expensive affair. Also the crimps are always in spec. as there is no lever action.

Has anyone used the $20 nicopress tool to crimp 1/8 sleeves as I am also planning on ordering this tool in the near future?
I saw it mentioned that to do the 1/8 nico you need to do a centre crimp first then the thimble end and then the tail end but how would this work in the $20 tool??
Thanks in advance for advice

The simple answer for 1/8th (3mm) cable is "No problem with the $20 tool".The sleeve length is the same as the width of the tool, so it is easy to centre the sleeve in the tool. The side crimps are a little more tricky, what you need to do is to ensure that the edge of the bit that does the crimping is just within the sleeve so that you get a full crimp but which does not extend over the middle crimp. Take your time and see that you have plenty of light to see by. The bolts don't need much force to tighten down.
Have fun
