Challenger HKS Combo

Is anybody flying a Challenger II long or clipped wing, with the HKS engine fitted? If so, kindly elaborate on performance and also on gearbox type, ratios etc. I am slowly getting to like the Challenger more, especially after seeing Morpheus take off at Morningstar last week. Seemed to do so effortlessly with 2 up. On a personal note; I just like 4-strokes a whole lot more than 2-strokes, hence my curiosity with the HKS. Apart from the additional 11kgs, which is not that significant as it has an extra 10 horses, it also plenty more torque right up to maximum revs.

Wingless Nut,
There are Challengers in the US running with the HKS motor. I can't tell you exactly who it is but if you pose this question on the Challenger Forum
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FlyChallenger/
here are some pics, you can see the motor must be installed upright instead of the usual inverted engine
If you browse through the photo gallery here
http://challenger.inebraska.com/ you might pick up the name and then you can contact him on the forum. Hope this helps

Good on you Morph! Most helpful. Seems I'm done working for the day and will do some Challenger surfing on the net. Next best thing to flying for the wingless.
Oil tank position

Well done, I noticed when fitting the HKS to the Aquilla that the oil tank location is quite critical. Also when the motor runs in it needs a huge battery to start it as the compression increases. When new its very poor performance only gets oomph at about 30 hrs.
i really enjoy mine and when you start putting fuel in then you will se that at about 6 liters an hour you just carry less.
