For the pilots slightly less familiar with flying within the JHB Special Rules areas, and if you use Google Earth, you may find these VFR Reporting & Reference Points of use (refer to ZIP file attached)!
The
Pinedene Corridor "path" is also included in the ZIP file!
If you are not yet a
Google Earth user, you will be forgiven, briefly, but here is the link to download it:
http://www.google.com/earth/index.html
Once you have opened the files remember to SAVE the points to 'My Places' should you want to keep them for future reference!
Safe Skies!

Here is the map that they relate to (green and orange points):

I'm surprised the Bapsfontein tower is not an official reporting point?
Thanks John

Agreed, quite odd! I would imagine that most VFR pilots flying in the area would reference off it!

The Tower is actually located in the Buffer Zone....this little area of airspace around FABA and the tower is quite confusing at times

Some traffic on Bufferzone frequency, some allready on Waterkloof, some on FABA (for bapsfontein and Microland)...some on SRE....sheesh

You really gotta keep your eyes open as planes often just "appear".
It is definately an "unofficial RP"as 95% of all traffic passing refers to the tower. The Railway bridge to the North East (which is a reporting point), strangely enough I have never heard reffered to in a Transmission....here everyone seems to report "Zynkraal" which is located less than a mile away?
Just some useless observations from my side.

Buffer Zone has a few frequencies, depends on the time of the day.
And its not just broadcast, the top three are talking to a controler?
