Thanks Guys!!! Appreciate your help!

BTW: Is there any use in making such lists available. For example, one for the Magaliesberg and surrounding areas?? So, a list that you could keep in your flight suit, and that you could modify to suit your own flying needs? I have so often found that I don't have the frequency or runways of an airstrip. OK, so back to flight planning, I know, but we all know what happens!

Anyway, this is the list that I am building, and would be happy to post it as an Excel spreadsheet for fellow pilots to download and modify for their own needs. What do you think?

Also, if such lists exist, send them through so that I can add to what I currently have. Then people can download and modify to suit.

Just a note

Aero57 is freq: 125.25 and not 125.8 as mentioned before
Ingwe Airfield freq: 125.00 (We are right next to Aero57)

I got the frequencies from Easyplan.
Ingwe, Eagles Creek, and Aero 57 are listed as 125.8
Given the close proximity of the fields, i'm surprised that they are different.

Honestly, only if it is based on the official source, as in CAA, or we would just end up with one more disinformation source. It is really easy for an external source to become outdated. Either that or we would require one very dedicated and meticulous person to ensure that it is kept up to date and reconciled to the AIP.

AFAIK not even the paid for offerings are getting it right. Pick an airfield like Rhino Park, go and look at what some of these external sources suggest the frequency to be, and then compare it with what is published in the AIP.

This is a brilliant suggestion. It would even be greater if you can add the LAT and LON as well.

If the guys being paid to keep the information up to date cannot keep up, I'm not sure that a private source could either.

I don't have a JHB flying map with me but how many strips with updated dedicated / shared frequencies are displayed on the map?

Explains how an out- of -towner flying from South East of Waterkloof at over 100m/ph with congested traffic on special rules though Pinedene to the west can make at least 10 honest stuff ups by consulting only the latest map.

OK, I get you, but surely that's the power of the collective?

My suggestion is this: That this one dedicated and meticulous person keeps the list current. We all use the list and the minute something is flagged as incorrect or out of date, it gets blogged here and the responsible person updates the list and re-publishes it for all to print and keep a current copy of.

Simple, or what part of this am I missing?

Or, the contrary, would we rather have 'official' lists that are either inaccurate or incomplete.

Suggestions, comments?

John, I hear you.
A collective effort could work. Can it become a sticky under the "airfields and destinations" board?
The moderators would have to be notified of changes, and they could ammend the post.

The power of the collective - has been tried - it is already available on AvCom under the Airportiki.

Much more than just the frequencies, but also includes any special joining procedures, google pics of the airfield, fuel availability/pricing etc. If you believe we can get it more accurate with our collective - I will include a listing to show frequencies only. WIll also include a button where you may download all these frequencies to excell, pdf, or even word.

See this for an idea as to what is already available: http://www.avcom.co.za/airport/airportview.php?UniAir=1
