Wing tip tuning

Postby skybound® » Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:39 pm

There was a fantastic article in one of the old Microflight news magazines a couple of years ago on how to tune a trike wing - in particular the wing tip tuning. The article explained that you dont just choose a side to tune - but depends on whether your wing pulled more at slow speeds or at high speeds as this would determine if you pushed up the wingtip on on one side or pushed down on the opposite.

Does anyone have copy of this article or the very least the 'rule of thumb' on which tip to tune.

I have a question

When I bought APE, and flying with it so, I know on the right hand side of the wing, the washout batten didnt lie across the one aluminium batten. I then got an extension piece of tubing and fitted it, and now it lies across the batten, same as on the left hand side of the wing.

However, I sense that the wing doesnt fly the same - I dont know enough about wing dynamics to say categorically that it is different..

any thoughts ?

Found it - courtesy of Microflight News Aug/Sept 2001. Written by Jan Coetzee.

<<edit can't attach it here: "The file is too big, maximum allowed size is 100 KiB">>

PM me if you want a copy - it is 600k.
