Yesterday we received a VXA220 that was a different specification, no problem but the factory set power is set at 0,9 watt. With a Vee rabbit this will be quite fine but with a monopole such as the original Aquilla type it will be down on performance. If they are from us it will have been set correctly but if self imported it should be checked.

I attach the setting procedures in the second menu. DO NOT adjust anything else !

Most will not have test kit but a simple guideline (please attach a antenna when testing) is the TX PO should be 160 which is approximately 1,5 watts. we saw the unit at 135 yesterday which is 0,9 watts.

Emile, I obviously have no idea regarding the device you are using. However I have heard of the UK suppliers adapting a Icom twin plug to a Vertex using a cable adaptor part number CT91, this is intended for ham usage and features a inbuilt resistance inside. May I suggest that you send it to us so we can fit a CT96 and our own adaptor that has no resistance internally. If that is not sufficient we can trace the board and increase the volume that way...But as always we will sort it out for you.
