Headset refurbish kits, any interest ?

Postby ZULU1 » Mon May 16, 2011 7:21 pm

I have been watching the forum for a while and noticed a need to upgrade intercoms, in most cases the new prices are prohibitive and many fellows have good headsets and other kit. They dont wish to fork out on new toys but want reliable gear.

Now I see daily the old Icom ICA3 in bedraggled condition and upgrades to suit Vertex Standards. The old Icoms plugs are wearing out and understandably so. These coupled to time tested intercoms does not make the safest flying experience.

We have been selling kits in the UK for a while now and really never considered this locally now but is there any interest in kits purchase ?

I can supply all new materials and new fully built up core components such as a chatterbox, ptt, cables etc. the customer "weekend warrior" rebuilds existing headsets with supplied new pc boards, mic booms, shields, speakers and curly cords. He will need to buy/borrow a pair of Rj12 crimp piers to complete the project. Now this will include radio interfaces etc tested and if completed properly will be as new. All that exists of old gear is the raw headset and no contents.

These kits we could sell ex works for about R1590,00 a kit, you would trash all the contents of old headsets and replace with new worms...

Its an idea and will make a repair/upgrade feasible. Please any interested parties either sms or email and then I will go ahead with the instructions to build...

meantime see www.headsetkits.com for the UK details.

This suits us as it reduces pressure on our other projects.
