MR Buzzcom, NEVER AGAIN !

Postby Raymonvt » Mon May 16, 2011 2:51 pm

After having to wait for one and a half weeks to get a quote out of Buzzcom for a small conversion on my aerie's intercom (Change the cables from Icom to Vertex Radio) and supply new headsets and helmets, I had to pay before Buzzcom would work on my aerie, which I did same day.
Then the Loooong wait! As mr buzzcom was on course he could not attend to my aerie for another two weeks to do a half an hour job ?
When I collected the aerie on Saturday I noticed that the charger plug was not converted. I was told by Mr. Buzzcom that "you did not ask for one". I wonder who the "expert" is? It was not quoted for ! I do not mind paying, but my logic would be that he should have identified this to me and not the other way round?
I am extremely disappointed in the service and attitude received from Larry (Buzzcom Systems). The attitude is unprofessional and the service, non-existing. R. 5 840,00 later I have to fit my own DC cable to get my radio to charge in flight, the old cable used on the previous radio was still hanging from the pod?
When I removed the old cable I also I noticed that there is a condensor wired to the intercom, some wires were simply cut and not isolated from the unit.
If this is the service I am to expect I have serious second thoughts ! Rather do it myself ?
Any comments will be valued.
Disappointed newby.

Larry is one of the nicest guys in the business. I would go and sit down with him and get this sorted out face to face and he will help you and make sure you are happy. Its hard to coment when ones has not heard both sides to the story but I can 100% vouch for his character. Jamie

Wish I can recommend an alternative, but I tried, their service just as bad. If you can do it yourself.

We need a proper, reliable, competent supplier in SA.

AND it works...

Also had a run in with Buzzcom but can at least say that at the end off the day the headsets work fine.

Thanks guys, obviously there are mixed feelings, related to the experience at the time I guess? :P
I relly don't mind paying a reasonable rate for a reasonable product / service, but how long is a piece of string?
I could have saved lots if I was able to finish my license with my own aerie ! It has cost me a lot more.
I remain with my comments, Larry, never again, I am a fool only once.
Having two businesses employing 16 staff I understand service expectancy and service delivery !

I agree. The reason why we are here is to share information so we can make informed decisions in future.
I hope the suppliers read this and take it seriously. If we know about bad service it should be on here. If we talk about
BMW conversions, red lights should start flashing with the competition. Same with intercom systems, etc etc.

The thing we need to do is stand together as a unit and only support the guys who's service is good and backup service is even better.

I agree with networking. Being new in this game we rely on advice ans support from more experienced guys like yourselves. I appreciate good service and will not mind paying a bit more for that. I made damn sure that the aerie I bought is reliable, Jenya checked the wing, I replaced tyres, front axle was bent, replaced, exhaust rubbers, etc, etc. Call me pedantic, but my safety is my responsibility, which is why I elected for new radio equipment. My aerie was checked by Andy today, no problems. Doing ATF on Thursday.
I accept that there are people who are happy with Buzzcom, glad to hear. It is also obvious that my experience is not an isolated incident. I hope Larry will get to see these responses and respond positively. It would be in the interest of us all. If he does not, well, that simply will prove the point.
Safe flying and hoping to see you all regularly !
