Tiny Tach - Advice Please

Postby salem » Thu Dec 09, 2010 11:31 pm

I have a "Tiny-Tach" Tachometer/Hour Meter. It came with a 1.7 metre wire which I would like to extend to 3.5 mts. Is the extra resistance of the longer wire likely to affect the RPM reading?

Hi Salem,

off the TinyTach website:
Can the wire length be changed? Adjustments to wire length must be made in the black coax cable. Unless you are experienced working with coax, we recommend that you send it back to Design Technology for adjustment. You can request that the Tiny-Tach be custom built with any length coax when you place your order.

So, the answer is yes, as long as you use a coax cable. It is not at all difficult to work with it. Seeing that you're in Cape Town - Yebo Electronics stocks all the necessary components and they might even be willing to solder up the connectors, if you ask them nicely.

Cheers,

V.
