Hi guys

I bought a trike 2nd hand recently. The previous owner had disabled the autolube system by removing the gear inside the autolube pump and put it back on again(whole pump unit).
But I recently discovered that somewhere along to pump, there's a leak. Comet aviation suggested that I just need to put on a cover plate and gasket seal to complete remove the autolube system pump.
What I need to know is, what must I do with those hoses and pipes that run into the pump from the engine, and what must happen to the hoses and pipes that run from the pump back into the engine. In other words, what must me connected where?

Some photo's might realy help should any of you guys have.

Thanks alot for the help!

regards T

I think he is reffering to removing 2 in the first pic and replacing it with 3 in the 2nd

you remove the whole pump assembly and pipes and revert the installation to the second pic

Should one remove the autolube and add oil to your fuel or leave it on?

Just joking Boet - I have a 4 stroke. :) :)

Not recommending that autolube be removed, but in this case it has already been disabled.

Why, if I may ask is it not recommended to remove the autolube? I hear many people say that its not a good concept. Manual mixing is better (you know for sure that the machine will get oil)
Look, if I must re-enable the thing, so be it. As long as I am assured my machine is getting the necessary lubrication at the right time and right quantity.

I know this topic is sideslipping towards another topic, but would appreciate some feedback. What is/was your experience with autolube.

Regards

Hi Morph, Id also be interested to get your input/thoughts as to why you would not disable the auto lube? Thinking of doing it myself one day.

It all comes down to piece of mind

the autolube system works very well, as has done for years now

Some people prefer to premix, and be assured that there is no possibility of the mix suddenly leaning out with a failure of the autolube system. Having said that, I have not heard of this suddenly happening anyway, unless of course you forget to put oil in the bottle. Which you could also do, by forgetting to premix.

So whatever blows your hair back. I am neither pro nor against it, sitting on the fence here.
