Rotax 582 EGT probes

I need to remove my manifold from my 582, and thus have to disconnect the 2 EGT probes. But I tried unscrewing the one, which started to become rather tough to turn. Rather being safe than sorry, I screwed it back on again.

Why is it so tuff removing, and how can I loosen it?
Or is there another way of just "plugging" out the EGT silver cables?

thanks for the help

You can plug out the leads from the back of the gauge.
Or you can spray some Q20 or something similar onto the threaded part and let it soak. If it went in straight initially, it should come out straight unless whoever put them in originally, damaged them. My guess is that its just got "rust/corrosion" on and should come out.

I once broke the egt probe off trying to remove it.  ## They say, with enough force you can break your finger off in your a-hole

HI guys, thanks for the replies
How long is that EGT probe thread? If I'm turning my egt with a spanner, my EGT cable is also going to twist. Wont it brake the cable if I twist it to far?

thanks so far for your replies.
regards

it's typically about a meter long. I wouldn't take the chance. A lot of guys connect them to window blocks near to the engine. From the window blocks to the gauge normal wire. This way you can disconnect them easily if they need to be removed. BTW do NOT cut the leads shorter.

thank you Morph

I will try this weekend, maybe its just better to respray the manifold piece whilst on the trike. Already took of the rest of the exhaust and resprayed. Looks much better.
Cheers
