GEARBOX/PROP

Postby sankie » Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:57 pm

I had an E Box on my 503 trike that swung an avo prop and then a De Necker . I replaced the E box (for use on my 582) with a B box
but the B box wont rev with the avo. What prop should I use? Has anyone a prop (secondhand) that I can buy.

Depending on your reduction ratio difference between the boxes, C box usually 3.47:1 and B box 2.58:1.
The C box can swing a longer prop at slower RPM - the Ivo is obviously set for that.
If you put the same prop on the B box it is firstly to long and secondly pitched to course for the box.
You can contact Ivoprop for information on correct length & pitch settings, I suspect the blades may be to long to
work on the B-box - tip speed could approach the sound barrier causing a noisy ineffective prop.
Your can also call Pieter de Nekker (P-Prop on the forum) for the correct wooden prop, should you want to go that way.
You have 2 choices, replace the Ivo blades with shorter ones & correct the pitch or fit a wooden prop from oom Piet.
