Hi,

I recently fitted a spotlight to the front of the trike and have now noticed the following :-

Without the light on, voltage generated once the engine is running, is about 13.2v. When I put the light on, it drops to 11.9, causing the dashboard warning light to start flashing.

How do I re wire it, so that the above doesnt happen ?

I think I am going to have to, as the softness is now flying "our" trike, and I dont get a chance to fly it...

You should run the switch to a relay point 85 ( 86 to earth ) and your wire from the spotlight to 87 with 30 connected to a - at least 2mm - thick ( fused ) wire directly from the battery.

Thanks - may have found another solution.. Security companys sell led's that flash, for about R90. They run off 12 volts, and draw minimal current and can be seen from quite a way off..

Did you fit a spotlight and wanting it to flash like a strobe?

No, I fitted a spot, and it drew too much current, causing the dashboard warning light to show.

The only reason for the light, is to make the trike visible to oncoming aircraft, and a suitable replacement is to use a flashing white led, which I have been able to source at a security company..

Why not consider the Zulu1 'Kingpost' strobe? Great product at about R800.
