Microlighters

I only get 6200 rpm on my 503 (Aerotrike).Jets are on 158 and altitude 4400.With my previouse trike - same jets - i got 6500rpm.Is there some setting one can do - dont want to fiddle if not 100% sure.

What prop do you have on? ground adjustable?

c-box with ivo 3 blade

Change the pitch on the prop.

I presume you need a special tool to do that.And to witch side - perhaps there is a type of tool with settings etc.

Don't know how to set those, but you need to take away pitch. fly. and adjust some more if necessary.

As far as I know, the Ivo prop sets very easy with the turn of one bolt and all the blades change the same value.

Ivo prop got spacers that need to be removed to change the pitch.

The older versions of the IVO use spacers. The newer ones use a single adjustable nut in the centre.

You need to decrease the pitch of the prop, probably by about 1 degree or less. I you turn your blade until in is parallel with the ground. Then look from the side at the tip. It needs to move fractionally more vertical. If you have a protractor you can measure it, but if you have a nut adjustable IVO then adjust it slightly and test. Put the nose of the trike against the hangar wall and rev it full revs. You should get about 6250 to 6500 static rpm.

If you have the spacer version then as far as I can recall the prop without spacers will be at minimum pitch. So adding spacers will increase the pitch. You would probably have too many. Remove one spacer and check. This requires you removing the prop completely.

It means more revs, which in turn means more power.

If anything, you will have a better climb rate.

Sounds great - will see what i can do this weekend.

It's like a lower gear in a car, better for the climbs and less for the cruise

but you have enough revs, 6500 is perfect.

Dont forget that rev counters used on microlights can be a few hundred revs out either way.
