Throttle cable stuck in flight

I had a bit of a May-day in January this morning

No laughing matter I know
I took off with the hand throttle full blast as I usually do, as I reached cruising altitude I eased up on the hand throttle only to find the plane still at max rpm and climbing at 1000 fpm - Checked if my shoe was engaging the foot-throttle and it was not

Checked for obvious reasons we throttle was open but could find none, all the while I was climbing higher and higher
Not too big of a deal - Made a call on the radio stating I am in trouble and need to do a dead-stick, ensured I had enough altitude and I then cut the mags, and all electrical power before doing a maneuvre I practiced numerous times above the same runway. Landing was no problem
Upon inspection we found the throttle cable to be stuck in open position completely - I am not technical at all so am not going to make like I know what caused it, it was just stuck - Period
Best bet probably to get Rotax-pro to replace all the throttle cables?

But D didn’t they just service you plane
I’m not sure but don’t they look at your cables when it’s serviced
Glad all ended well

What is the reason for taking off with hand throttle?

Yes, Serviced and AP'd - I don't blame either guy for this happening,I have confirmed that throttle cables are pretty new - Just jammed in the splitter unit where the cable splits from 1 to 2 cables going to the 2 carbs
What is the reason for taking off with hand throttle?
Habit, I only use foot throttle for landing and fly with cruise throttle 99% if the time - No real reason for it

Well done Dave. You should also oil the cables when the trike has its service every 100 hrs. Bassie has a nice little gadget he can lend you to get lots of oil inside.

Sorry mate, taking the pis*ss - Did not mean to be rude
I am not sure what caused it - The cable jammed in the "splitter unit" - Hope that's right - Basie not sure why - Is being replaced tommorow
