Hi,
I need to find someone in the Johannesburg area that can assist me with intermittent radio/communication problems on my trike.
Briefly, I have an ICOM radio and I can hear other transmissions, but no one can hear mine, and I need someone to sort it out for me.
Any takers ?
Thanks

German - I've already done that and used the trike aerial and the short black one that is used when it is a base station and it's the same intermittent problem.
Nick - it is an IC-A4e.

I have an ICA4e, and also some experience with transmitters. Start with the basics: the ptt switch, then the mic output. If your antenna gave you problems at any stage, or you have a short on the cable to the antenna, then your final output stage transistor may be shot. Check the others first, and if none of those work, I'll get you the name of the rf transistor you'll need.

Have you tried using it away from the aircraft with just its rubber duck just to eliminate the aircraft or its structure and to ascertain that it is transmitting.
Nick.

Sad thing is, most places are closed until New Years
If you find an electronics place open, you might need the replacement part Q21, which is a 2SK3075 FET. It's probably the culprit if everything else was checked.
Whereabouts in Joburg are you? Maybe I can help.

thanks, problem has gone away.
It looks like the 10amp fuse blew, which resulted in the battery not charging.
I put a 15 amp fuse in and charged the battery overnight, and now radio seems to be fine.

Been off the forums for a while, so only seen this now.
Good to hear you got your radio sorted out.
Apologies I didn't get back to you sooner.
