Hi guys and seasons greetings, over the next few days I would like to clean and re-oil my K+N filter thats fitted to my 503,

I know there is the usual K+N cleaner but just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas for anything else I can use to do the job,

I have a DVD from the states with a guy showing you how to do the job and he suggests dish washer detergent by the trade name dawn????,

I have plenty of the proper K+N oil but just need to clean it first.

Nick.

You can use any good quality liquid dish washer with warm water and a soft brush.
Wash & rinse until they are clean and only apply oil when they are dry.

Ok thanks guys, just out of interest how often would you guys recommend
servicing the K&N air filter, my Rotax manual states every 25 hours but looking
on K&Ns web site FAQ section it says the conical type filter which is what I
have should be ok for 100,000mls of road use as long as ALL of the filter wire
is visible,

www.knfilters.com/faq.htm#4

My trike operates from a grass strip with no visible dust being kicked up and I
would have thought generally a much cleaner environment so were do Rotax get every 25
hours from, or do they know something K&N dont,

I am just thinking messing with it more than is req may cause more probs than it
stops,

What do you think?????

Nick.

Nothing wrong with a soft brush but........everyone has a different perception of "soft". Rather NO brush at all. Just swish and rinse, swish and rinse etc.
Brushing COULD damage the fibres of the filter.

ps..has it stopped raining yet, or has the snow taken over?
