Garmin Gps III software conversion

I have a Garmin Gps III.The Garmin Gps III Pilot is in principal the same gps except for the software for aviation use.Can one uninstall the software on Gps III and install the aviation software of the Pilot III.Has anybody tried this.

What info, you can change the maps, the waypoints etc using Mapsource. The big problem is the gps has very limited memory. I know I have one

Compatible with versions: 2.00-2.09

Bit old, but give it a try.

As far as I know, you cant load a different unit's software on yours. Give it a try, I think it first check compatibility, and if all is ok, it continues.

Don't hold me to this, phone an expert.
