Rebell

## I'm a new microlighter from Romania. Glad to be in your forum. My Murphy REBELL with a rotax 912 , 100 hp engine, need an appropriate propeller, preferable with variable speed . Three blades or better two ? Who is experienced with this questions and can advise me ? Is it possible to upgrade my 100 hp engine with a Rotax Super Turbo ? Thnk's Victor

From the looks of it the rebel will be very much the same as the Bushaby, Kitfox and others alike. A good option for a ground adjustable would be a three blade warp drive but there are props like the IVO inflight adjustable, the Woodcomp, GSC and others. Your propsize on the 912S will vary from 62-72inch depending on the make, model, your prop clearance and the max pitch of the prop.

(^^) hi,thank's kfa. I'll have a look on the IVO prop. Do you think, a 3 blade would work better than a 2 blades for this profile ? I'll go sleep now. In my town is midnight. see you totmrrow. It's really great to be in such a community.

Hi Victor,
The two blade props are the most efficient props but they tend to be a bit noisy and have a bit more vibration than a three blade. Personally I think the three blade warp is a very good option if you are looking for a ground adjustable prop. They are not too expensive, strong and they tend be reasonably smooth and quiet with good performance. The IVO also works well but we find that the servo motor on the inflight ones tend to seize because there is no limiting switch fitted. I have heard a rumour that they fit a limiting stop now so check them out if you like them. I have seen on the Kitfox forum that the guys in the states like the new IVO's.

Woodcomp in Czechoslovakia make a very good inflight adjustable prop, but it is very expensive

Rotax super turbo

who knows if it is possible to upgrade a rotax 912, 100 hp , with this famous super turbo ( Mitsubishi ? ) could you indicate me a serious manufacturer in central Europe ?

Hi vmavro. Welcome to the forum.

I have copied this from the Xenon thread on gyro talk. The local Xenons run a turbocharched 912 (80 hp) which is called the RST - 122hp. Apparantly works great.
The engine , as far as I know, is built / converted by a French company , not specifically for Xenon.

Its the 80hp Rotax with a Mitchibusi turbo and intercooler which pushes the hp up to 122 horses . Rotax does not approve this conversion but the Xenon factory obviously does and guarantees the engine with the rest of the machine.

Whereas you get 115hp at 5800 RPM which can be maintained for 5 minutes on the 914, on the RST you can maintain 115 hp continously.
At sealevel I reckon it could be an overkill or can too much power ever be enough ??

Take off is at 5800 RPM , 122hp and at 5400 RPM I have 115 hp continously . 914 = 100hp at 5400.
I cruise at 5000 RPM = 100hp for best fuel ecconomy ( 16 to 18 lts per hour. ) I cruise my M22 at 5200 RPM ( 80% ) and burn 23 to 25 liters per hour. Was same on M16. ( 914 )

You run in turbo all the time ... a very smooth engine , like a Singer sowing machine !

thank you LL. I gott in contact with france aviation. I like their silancer for Rotax. The RST seems to only work with the80 hp engine.

You cannot turbo charge the 912S because the compression ratio is too high, that is why they only recommend the RST conversion for the 80hp 912.
