Spark plug wire/cap question

Postby extra300s » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:02 am

Hi guys

I need some advise on the following. After a flip this weekend I landed ad noticed the rpm is about 300 revs lower than usual. When I pushed the trike in I noticed that the rear plug cap has jumped off. It was just lying on the black metal cover! Other symptoms I had is halfway back from Goedverwacht I had a slight radio noise in my ears. Trike still performed without missing a beat.

Plug cap type is NGK Lb10f which has a 10k resistor built into it. My Question is how do I go about changing it out. Can I just replace the plug cap or do I have to buy the whole wire?

Thanks
Karl

Spark plug cap just screws onto the wire with a copper/brass threaded pin. You can unscrew it by holding the wire tightly and turning the cap anti-clockwise. Just buy a new one and turn it onto the wire (trim 10mm from edge of wire so you thread it into a new section of wire - better contact). I've also seen guys apply die-electric grease onto the threaded pin to provide better contact before fitting the new cap. The BR8ES spark plugs already have a resistor in - You can use normal spark plug caps

Then next, install a set of bungies to hold them in place
