Morning

I am looking for the translucent tape that in stuck onto the leading edge of the prop to protect it from small particles, eg. grass and small stones. Mine is starting to look a bit 'shabby' and I would like to replace them. Any idea who supplies the tape in the Pretoria region ?

Thanks

I use window protection film cut to suit. It is the sticky film used to keep your window pieces together if somebody wants to break your window by throwing a brick at it. It has fantastic sticking abilities, is UV proof etc and is not easy damaged. Go to your local supplier and cut a small narrow strip of it and say you want to test it. Pretty sure you get it for free and much cheaper than getting the original stuff.

Robjack,

Now that is why I enjoy this forum......... such a lot of really good information. (^^) I will definitely give it a try.

Spoke to one of the suppliers and was quoted R556.80 for the kit for a three blade prop which to me seemed a bit steep (**) (**)

Thanks again.

Just remember to cut the tape the safe size for each piece (Cut three at a time) or it may affect prop balance.

Hi Guys,
While on the tape issue, I'm looking for a nonslip tape that the guys
use to stick on a wing of a plane where you step on.
Anybody with info or contact details please.
Thanks.
Willie

Hi All

For surfaces other than airflow or prop, there is still nothing better or as affordable as PROPER DUCT tape. In cars I have even fixed exhausts and radiators with that and Pratley Steel, never to replace/repair again... On the serious side for stepping surface protection the 3M equivilent of DUCT Tape is a reasonable and cheap alternative, although I suggest rather finding the original stuff which makes baby diaper stickyness look like a wet piece of toilet paper. Last price I got was around $14 for about 50m, much cheaper than what the guys are asking locally for more inferior quality "Stepping Surface" stuff.

I am not gonna BS, this is not airflow friendly material, so putting it on airflow surfuces is not a good or even intelligent idea. I just want to make people aware that for non-critical surfaces you don't have to pay stupid prices.

{And now I bow my head to take the punishment on this forum, which I am expecting, lets open up a debate}

Thanks
Kleva
