Will do so yes. Would not mind becoming and qualified technician/mechanic on microlights myself. Will come to the next meeting and chat to you guys.

Cheers

Loeriesfontein, about 320km N-NEfrom Capetown, as the crow flies. In the middle of nowhere, near Calvinia and Niewoudtville

It's an aerie, she will be flown back

That sounds good. Never knew a BB was covered by material ad the doped to harden - must be to keep the weight down I suppose. Really like the look of your plane Morph- the colour scheme ect. I have learnt on my model plane (since I started flying petrol engines. This spesific one is actually run on 95 and two stroke oil not methanol as previously commented ) that you need to either use lock-tite or some sort of holding device on each and every nut & bolt to prevent failure. Liked the method one of the members showed with the metal washer folding and holding the bolt in place.

Combination of heat plus doping. Heat really tightens it up, then you Nitrate it to waterseal teh fabric and prepare it for the next step, Then Butyrate it mixed with Aluminium paste to UV protect it, then spray with 2K and a plasticiser.

All the nuts and bolts are nylocs.

Ok a bit more to it than I thought. WOuld be good talking to yourself aswell at the meeting or club one day. You must have quite a bit of knowledge after building your own plane.

If I understand correctly you can only use those nuts once.

Yes only once. Certain critical bolts such as prop bolts are also safety wired.

Building your own aircraft is an amazing experience and you learn a hell of a lot doing it. If you get the opportunity definately do it.

Morph, last question and then I'am done (proberly sounding like n small boy - hoekom, maar hoekom)

Is n microlight plane allso inspected whilst you are building and you can only build so far unless a inspector has approved it? Or is this only for large and oversees builders?

Over and out

yes, a few major inspections. First the wings, before covering. Next the fuselage before covering, third the engine installation. And then there is a major inspection done prior to test flying.

Now some people combine the different inspections. The most important is they need to be able to check it all before it's closed up.

Then of course is the whole test flight thing. Quite nerve racking but a wonderfull achievement if it flies true hands off
