I would proceed with caution, I had a close encounter with a sugar cane field a couple of years back because of this very same reason. If you decide to fly it then I will stay very close to the field for the first 25 hours or so, if it doesn't seize in that time then chances are that it will be Ok.
OR
Get someone with a borescope to have a look in the crank area for signs of corrosion. Not 100% failsafe but better than just flying it blindly.

Hi All
Thanks for the responses. The motor has been checked out by an AP and he says all is cool. The motor only has about 89 Hours on it and was coated with oil for storage so theorectically all should be
.
But she needs to do 10 Hours proving flight and i was told to do as many landings and take offs during that time as possible to really work the motor - that is the reason i want to run it in again before doing the 10 hours.

Re: Running a Motor after standing for a Loong Period
Hi
Because of my work I am only able to fly my trike every 8 weeks when I am on leave in SA. At this stage I have someone to run the motor for me every couple of weeks and when I am at home I fly as much as the weather permits.
I fly a Raptor 582
which is hangered in Barbeton and there is currently 195 hours on the engine.
At this stage I do not "preserve" the engine as per Rotax instructions when I go away. So far I have not had any problems and I am very careful with my preflight and I clean the air filter and empty the carb bowls before flying the first time after the eight weeks. Is there anything more I can do to make sure that the engine is not adversely effected by standing for two months at a time?
Any advice will be appreciated.

This thread and the comments applies more to a "503 Windlass left in the barn for 4 years without starting" type scenario.
Barberton shouldn't be too bad compared with say Ballito.
As you have a mate starting it every couple of weeks, I don't see a problem.

Thanks Dude Wilco

I will be keeping those first 10 hours very very close to the runway.

Besides i have plenty time to do it in, i am in no hurry to hurt my new Baby. Been a looooong wait to get her and not going to be in any hurry. Just to have her damaged

Two last questions -
1. How long is the runway you intend to use?
2. What surface does this runway have?

Runway is 600m and grass.
Also got about 500m across the road that is the Tarlton Drag strip.
