As far as I'm concerned, they're WRONG.
There's a lot of documentation on the web regarding this, from a number of knowledgeable individuals, and they all advise against mounting it vertically. If I'm not mistaken, Rotax also recommends horizontally.

I agree with you Duck - I have seen the Rotax maintenance bulletin on this. Just find it very strange that a trike manufacturer then does not apply that to their design. A simple modification to their current mounting bracket can't cost that much to introduce?

If somebody has already produced a modified mounting bracket for their Aquilla I would be most appreciative if they could post pictures of it on the forum. I hate reinventing the wheel.......

I have a windlass wind the engine mounted with spark pointing down and the fuel pump is installed the correct way. So maybe the answer lies with the fact that solowings is installing the engine on the aquillas the wrong way round, and then they are just continuing with the wrong installation on the fuel pump. :wink: :wink: 2 wrongs making a right!! he he
