Rotax 582 Not running smooth
When I start my Trike with 582 it obviously won’t run smooth till she is warm. How long after warm up should the motor be running smooth? I’m asking because if I rev slowly up to 3000rpm, I find that there will still be a slight miss beat (very little) till over 3000. After that she runs dead quiet and smooth. What are the minimum revs for the motor to run smooth (without missing a beat)?

Re: Rotax 582 Not running smooth
2000 - 3000 is considered idling on the 2 stroke. It's not uncommon for it not to be smooth. Very very tricky to get it smooth under 3000.
Needs a lot of very fine tuning and jetting to sort it out. My advice is to let it be if the rest is ok. unless you want to frustrate yourself

Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two

What Duck sez is true, if it is unacceptably rough at low RPM the first things I would look at are the choke valves, are they opening and more importantly fully closing when they should.
Good luck with the search.

It aint broke so dont fix it

I would only worry if she has a tendency to cut out if you reduce throttle to idle. Other wise it sounds like a normal 2 stroke to me.
Just make sure your Idle airscrews are both at the same settings.. On the side of the carbs are the idle air screws. (See pic below) Screw them all the way in, then 1 whole turn out for a 582, and 1.5 for a 503
Also a good carb clean could help a bit
