582 thermostat
582 thermostat
Any ony know at what temperature should the thermostat on a 582 blue top open?
Aquilla II ZU-DJS
Wingfield - 124.8
Wingfield - 124.8
Speaking under correction, 60 degrees. Engine should not exceed 80 degrees.
I have got a heating problem as do numerous other aquilla owners in CT. In summer we get the temp up to 85+ quite easily.
Barry one of our electronic fundies has got a prototype warning device about to be installed on my trike.
Solution B, a larger radiator?

If you don`t know how watercooling systems work, please DON`T take the thermostat out . If the 582 has a full-flow bypass water cooling system you could very well damage your engine as you would only circulate most of your water through the radiator section and not have complete water circulation through the engine-block .Water-cooling systems are actually designed to work WITH a thermostat in place!! --so please don`t play with your life and take the thermostat out!! As I say i don`t know if the 582 has the full flow bypass watercooling system ,but i am almost positive it will have ,as all automotive and other applications i know of have such systems. If you look at the thermostat while holding it with the big flange side up ,look at the bottom and you will see a small flange ,about 15 mm in diameter . Now if you look inside your engine block were the thermostat comes out of ,you will see a port where this flange seats on , only when the thermostat is fully opened on normal running temp. So when the engine is cold , this port is opon due to the thermostat being still in its closed position--now this is where the catch is ,when eng is cold the open port allows for the water to take the shortest route--with least resistance ,and that is a flow that directs most of the water flow through the radiator only and in this way allows the water in the engine block to reach normal operating temp. much quicker . The thermostat will now gradually open and when being fully open , will then close that port and re-direct the water flow to circulate through the whole system. It might sound like gibberish but that is the basics , and that is a FACT???--(fact)
