ROTAX 912 OIL COOLER

Postby German » Sat Feb 09, 2008 7:42 pm

I SEE IN THE ROTAX OP MAN AND ALSO ON THE ROTAX e LEARNING MODULE THAT THEY GOT THE OIL COOLER IN THE SUCTION SIDE.WOULDNT IT BE SAFER AND MORE EFFICIENT ON THE RETURN TO THE OIL TANK SIDE? ON ANY PUMP YOU WANT THE LEAST RESTRICTION ON THE SUCTION SIDE.I FITTED MINE ON THE RETURN SIDE AND GOT 100% OIL PRESSURE THE MOMENT THAT PROP TURNS

I suppose they want to cool the oil at the last point before it goes into the engine as opposed to the first point coming out. I would say an engine with the oil cooler on the return side would run hotter than the recommended installation.

I wouldn't mess with this. I know of one forced LOB caused as a result of an incorrect oil system installation. R45K engine rebuild later
