Exhaust Hanger Rubbers.

I got seriously pissed off at those over-priced larney looking short-life rubber exhaust hangers. I tied cheap , and then EXPENSIVE Neither lasts very long. So I put ye ole thinking cap on, and this is what I coocked up. Voila No more broken exhaust hangers. ( Admittedly, it may NOT look larney, BUT it lasts......... :D

Sort of looks like sushi :D I have a lot of 25mm rubber radiator pipe offcuts. That is the black part. The white stuff is poly urethane glue/seallant. ( The stuff we glue the windows in with.) For the mounting hardware you will need 2 X 35mm X 6 mm bolts, 4 25X6mm "penny washers and 2 X 6mm nuts. Hammer the washers in the same curvature as the 25mm rubber hose. Drill 2X 6mm holes in the rubber hose. Put washer inside and force bolt thru, washer outside and tighten, repeat opposite side. Blank one side of hose with whatever and fill up with poly-u.

Why should he get a fine? To me its quite obvious that this is a genuine aviation part. So far I have not seen a single motorcar using that type of exhaust rubber hanger.

Must admit I have never had a broken exhaust mount in many flying hours. Maybe due to only using well balanced 3 blade props. You can purchase the ruber mountings from rubber products and mouldings, I don't know what they cost. Its a good idea to also fit safety wire to secure the exhaust in case the shock mounting fails.

It is not a "prop" thing. It is a "heat" and a "2-stroke" thing that makes them fail. :D
