trike with a 503 engine (120 hours)

2X Crankshaft end seals R336.60
1 De-koke gasket set R420.00
Annual inspection R600.00

Labour: 16 hours @ R230.00 per hour = R3680


Total: R5036.60


Please let me know if you think this is normal?

Did you take the motor out yourself and take it to them?

I just did a decoke, no crank shaft seals and this took me 8 hours.

Hi

No, this was done on site. The trike went for an annual inspection.
The "De-koke gasket set" and "2X Crankshaft end seals" were done to get the trike airworthy.

The parts are more or less the actual cost....give or take a coupla Rands.

Dont know about the rest but my AP cost R200 smackers last year... R600 is a bit rof?

AP normally in region of R300-R400 but 16 hours is more than it' will take to do a complete engine overhaul and at that rate?. My thought's 'Rip-off' R130-R170/hr plus traveling sounds better

My AP costs me a breakfast and a packet of cigars for the pilot flying them in. This is followed by an overnight parcel of non - critical bits and pieces at no cost. Perks of buying from from the manufacturer :wink:

Don't be too hard on paying for geniune parts. I't a massive stock layout to carry, or you'll be greeted with " Don't have it right now, pay a deposit and I'll courier a.s.a.p."


Check Rudie's details on dekoking a 503, for someone not in the trade.

I my experience if you belong to a flying club your annual club fee's are up to date and there is an AP in the club it's done for free. I may be wrong but that how it has worked for me.
