What RPM should I get?

Postby Willie » Sat Oct 14, 2006 11:54 am

What should the static RPM be on a Limbach 80Hp motor? I used a 52” x 47° and with brakes on the max. RPM @ 1400vt went to 3000 RPM. Need to get a new prop made after spinner departed.

Check with Norman S. Don't have his email add, but he built a KR2 and has done plenty work on Dave Kings KR2 which has same motor. Just had a new prop made as well. Think 3200rpm is good...

Norman got me the prop I just destroyed. I spoke to him again yesterday (at Sun City) and he will look again. The Limbach max. RPM is set at 3200 RPM for 5 min. and constant cruise at 3000 RPM. So I think the pich must be 48 – 50. I wonder why the RPM is so low on the engine. The Auto Data Digest states 4200 RPM on a 2L Volkswagen engine for max power. :?
