Operating a Rotax 582 on 93 octane
Operating a Rotax 582 on 93 octane
What are the ramifications / potential risks of operating a Rotax 592 on 93 octane fuel instead of 95 octane at the Highveld altitude ?

Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two

We have always run 582s on 93 without issue.

Re: Operating a Rotax 582 on 93 octane
As somebody who knows very little about 2 strokes, can somebody explain what difference using 93 vs 95 would make? Would using 95 in a 582 be bad for the motor?
Going nowhere in particular

Lower octane fuel burns faster than higher octane fuel but generally has a slightly higher energy value. This means that you may even get slightly higher performance from 93. The compression ratio is low enough to use 93 safely.
