To all the technical boff's
Can one or is it advisable to use the new unleaded 95 octane fuel recently available in Gauteng in ones 503's and 582 motors ???
Will it ????
a) Damage ones engine by running to hot and or burn a hole in a piston ??
b) Will it give better performance and more power ???
c) Could one get better consumption through better burning ??
d) Would you need to change to different size jets ??

Smiley,
The Rotax motors were never designed for leaded fuel. They come from Austria which like the rest of Europe is very Eco aware. Leaded fuel was only intended for 4-stroke engine with valves, and your engine has neither.
The old leaded fuel had a higher octane rating than unleaded which is why guys used it. It was supposed to give better power. I never noticed this improvement.
I have been using BP unleaded since I have had my plane (120hours) and have had no problems.
a) Damage ones engine by running to hot and or burn a hole in a piston ?? - no running lean will, if you premix and put too little oil in for instance
b) Will it give better performance and more power ??? I doubt it, but it won't be worse either. At least this fuel is unchanged. The leaded fuel has changed to a lead replacement and in my mind that is a risk because that chemical mix is untested
c) Could one get better consumption through better burning ?? I don't think so
d) Would you need to change to different size jets ?? No
