Yebo, a half-wave antenna - which should be vertically polarised.

You can borrow my SWR meter and tune it if you wish.

I would love to do that sometime, thanks.

It would be great to ensure that it is correctly tuned as well as tune the whip that I'm about to fit to my car.

Ballito is a small town and having a radio in the house and one in the car will cut down my cellphone bill a bit.

...Then, there's the "nerd" factor that appeals to me as well

I dont have a trimming chart with me here but John is right 588mm.

If the spring on the bottom of the antenna is about 13mm in diameter the u cut the antenna from the hole to the tip 588mm
