Thanks John,

I would guess that this is a halfwave antenna then.

It was supplied for the farm house as all the farm bakkies are fitted with 29Meg radios as well.

Yebo, a half-wave antenna - which should be vertically polarised.

You can borrow my SWR meter and tune it if you wish.

Regards

PS: Was a bit tired – changed “horizontally” to “vertically”.

I would love to do that sometime, thanks.

It would be great to ensure that it is correctly tuned as well as tune the whip that I'm about to fit to my car.

Ballito is a small town and having a radio in the house and one in the car will cut down my cellphone bill a bit.

...Then, there's the "nerd" factor that appeals to me as well

John,

I travel up to Howick reasonably often so will get hold of you next time I'm on my way past.

Many thanks for your offer.

If the spring on the bottom of the antenna is about 13mm in diameter the u cut the antenna from the hole to the tip 588mm

I've got 1 change at this  is it from the hole the antenna swivels around or from the base, including the spring, where the nut goes through the body :?: :?

IFLYHI – it’s simply CW [morse code]. The above means ….

Dear Henry – greetings – what is your call sign? I live in Westville. Been very busy because my computer crashed and can’t be repaired. Weather has been lousy, in fact wind blew my antennas down. Glad that you could help our buddies here. Please send me an email. Bye.

QSL??
