Garmin Pilot III Memory

Postby charlie » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:26 pm

I bought a GPS but due to a low memory battery state, it wont keep the new waypoints stored.
The 3V memory battery was replaced without any success.
'Garmin' also sent it back without any success and refers me to Century Avionics?
Has anyone out there experienced the same problem, can you help please, what am I to do?
My dear seller friend swears that the thing was in perfect condition

Hi Charlie

I've got 2 x Garmin 111's.
Same problem both.
The thing is the internal battery needs to be on power (charging) at least twise a week for a few hours.I'f your not a frequent flyer thats a problem you can put rechargeable batteries in,altough the Gps is off the internal b charges. But it can "vreet" batteries very quickly.
I'm keeping mine in the car on 12v all day as I travel alot. So problem solved.

I guess age is catching up to the PILOT 3'S.

Cheers
