I have a Buckeye PPC with a ETX9 battery with the Rotax 582 bluetop. It seems the battery needs to be replaced. Any recommendations - must I replace with the same? This ons served me well for 4 years.
I live far from big cities- [ Bloemfontein nearest] any company with good prices that will post to me that you can come up with?
Thanx.

Re: Which battery
I would replace with the same, the wet motorcycle type may cause unwanted hastles.
Call Essential Energy 0861 336 3749. They are in Jo'burg but will send it to you.
You may want to go a little bit bigger, the next size up is 17 - 18 Ah which the windlass uses.

Re: Which battery
Hi Kingfisher,
Thanx for your post. I have ordered and it's on its way. I went for the 18Ah as you suggested.
The service from Essential Energy was very good and also the price.
Enjoy your day.

Hi cjkrit, what did you pay for the battery if I may ask.\
I have just replaced my 18A/hr battery and it cost R800.00

Re: Which battery
I have been using an 18ah battery for more than 5 years on two trikes. These are the gel(dry) batteries they use for ups applications. They are well below R350.00 - I bought one a while ago for a different application - for a quad bike in fact - will never ever buy those expensive wet lead acid motorcycle ones again.

Re: Which battery
Hi Dunesand, I am now in the market to replace my trike battery, and I like what I hear about the gel type - in my travels around Richards Bay, I did not find anyone that supplied these batteries, can you please give me the contact details of someone up your way that sells them, and even if I have to pay courier fees, it will end up cheaper than what I paid for the lead acid battery.

Hi Dodds,
Try these people in Durban:(much closer and easier I think)
Battery Experts
0861 44 78 44
speak with Liesel
Apparently they even have a 12v 22ah(WOW LOTS OF POWER!!!) unit with same dimensions but it might be that you have to alter your battery box or holding bracket a little. I also learned that these batteries are referred to a "gel" type although it still is a sealed lead acid battery that can stand upside down etc - maybe the lead acid is in a gel form - not sure.
Anyway, you won't be sorry.
