Sticky throttle

Postby Bugwar » Fri Jan 21, 2011 1:27 pm

The throttle on my Raptor gets stuck every so often. I had the throttle cable replaced but it happened again.

Any suggestions?

It is not fun having to cut the engine for a dead stick landing every now and then. As it always stick in the full open position the trike continues to climb and the engine will not restart until the throttle is back (or close to) in the idle position.

* Replace the cable and the cable housing. Don't only replace the cable. My housing was the issue not so long ago.
* Make sure of your cable routing.
* Check your connection box make sure it operates smoothly. (Where the one throttle cable, connects to the two cables that goes to each carb)

Same thing happened to me - No fun. I had a AP replace the whole throttle system (Housing and cable)

Not the kinda thing you wanna mess with, Imagine it gets stuck 1hour away from home - Can only run engine on full RPM for a while and then have to switch off or risk damage - Not nice

Had the same propblem on my Raptor a while back. Next to the pedal there is a long bolt and nut that stops you pressIng the throttle beyond its max point. That had bent and was jamming the throttle wide open, bent it slightly and no more problems... mabey yours is the same?

Hope it can help you..

Unfortunately not the problem.

It seems as if it may have something to do with the "instructor's throttle" cable. When it sticks I can get it unstuck by pushing the back throttle couple of times.

Problem is it sticks randomly, which makes it difficult to find the problem

Had a problem with the instructor throttle getting stuck and it happens where the cable comes out of the sleeve by the pedal. When you use the front throttle the tension in the cable is taken away and the back cable creeps out of the sleel sleeve and it gets stuck on the side of the steel. One way to fix is to wire tie the cable sleeve to the steel sleeve adjuster at the pedal. Hope it makes sense. Is the throttle getting stuck like full throttle or is it just idling very high?

My advice - Stop messing around with a very dangerous situation

The problem is either a routing one or it is the splitter slide that gets stuck. Have it checked out.
