Which Prop

Postby Massimo » Mon Nov 22, 2010 9:18 am

Morning All,

I need a new prop for my Aquilla, i found two of the blades had formed "bubbles" towards the tips of the blades. Overall im very happy with the Aeros prop but i believe Solo Wings no longer supports them? I will phone and find out.

Tried the warp drive and it was alot smoother and i know they are very strong props, but a little less efficient that Aeros prop.

So what other props does anyone else recommend?

Oom Piet se plank. Not as smooth as a 3 blade but the most efficient. (^^)

Will do when i get to the field again. Its on the tips of the blade, seems as if the inner glue or cavity have come apart and this has caused this "bubble" which in time will split the blade. Very difficult too see unless you look moer close.

I also had an Aquila with Aero prop.
Exactly the same happened when one of my blades with about 70 hrs on got an "air" bubble on the blade tip. After some commotion between Solo wings and Solo wings and Aero co. they decided to pay half the price of new one.

Warp drives are marvelous and strong props. Don't really know if it will job on a 503? Maybe some experts can comment/help?
Good luck with the prop!

I like the NC props. They are local and they can handle stones on rough landing strips. They are not as strong as the warp drive but I think that that is an advantage. If you hit something solid you want the prop to break, not your crank.

Mmm, P Prop is great and you support a local product.

Cobra 582
My previous prop = NC Prop.
Take off distance +- 270m
Cruise +- 60 - 65 mph
Nice and smooth

I replaced it with a P prop
Take off distance reduced to +-210m
Cruise +- 60 - 65 mph
Also smooth, when adjusted properly. Sounds better :-)

If it wasnt for the fact that I had to reduce my take off distance significantly as my airfield were 270m long I wouldn't have replaced my NC.
But I am not looking back, the P Prop does the trick, and I am happy with it ##

Warp 72" on my 503 and very happy !

Had to watch the bolt torgue on the hub every 2 hours for the first 20 hours though. After that, very (^^)

I wanted a NC props but when I needed one urgently they had a waiting list.

Piet Props are nice, maar ek hou nou maar net eenmaal nie van 'n hout spaan nie. Seker maar soos BMW en Merc, altwee ewe goed maar jy gaan koop nou maar die een uit prinsipe.
