Garmin Help

Postby Sukkelaar » Thu Nov 18, 2010 6:16 pm

I need to download the information stored on my Garmin (495) to my computer, flights, routes, flight time, distance
and so forth.
Can anybody perhaps tell me if this is possible and how?

Yes. There are a couple freebie prg's avail on net or the one you got with the GPS. Think the 496 comes with a USB cable. Should be pretty much plug and play..

What you want to do with the info?

Hi George

Just want to keep the track record on Computer before deleting it from the garmin. vhpy vhpy vhpy

I found out there was a CD in the box that needed to be loaded to be able to transfer info from garmin
to computer

Without loading the CD I could only load easyplan routes from comp to garmin.

So all A Okay now, thanks anyway.

Also thanks for the (fuel help) numbers in Vryburg (Francois), It helped and I did make use of Him.

Had a Awesome trip

Lekka. Post some pics and the tracks.

PS
I have the maps on CD. It quite lekka to plot your routes onto the maps. I usually do a scrapbook page (stick in my logbook) like this one of the airrace.

I can't find the ones I did of the bush baby ferries from Slaapstad, but it basically a 1 page flying momento of the trip with pics and info down scattered around the lines on the map. The files are huge and take a bit of time to get done, but the results are IMHO well worth it. I have a great wonder down memory lane every time I do a log book summary for license renewal..... Flightbook is a free download from Garmin ( www8.garmin.com/products/flightbook/ ) that is basically a logbook of flights, speeds and distances downloaded off your GPS, but does not store track information. I use Easyplan to download that.

Or simply use Garmin's own program called mapsource. Should have come free with the gps.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.
