Torque on Rotax 503 bolts

Postby bryan » Mon Nov 08, 2010 5:54 pm

Hi Guys
Urgently need a schematic illustration of engine AND mounting of 503 on Aquilla with relevant torques of bolts and nuts especially the mounting points. Have just found cracked engine mounts with what appears to be evidence of overtightening of the mounting bolts. :x Scary stuff since all four holes had cracks and the last work was done by someone who was supposed to be qualified and an AP. ## Certain washers not even in place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please help if you can. My email bryan@hyperlink.co.za
Regards
Bryan

Hi Morph
Thanks for promp reply. (^^) No big flat washer to spread loads? Or perhaps a flat strip of metal between left and right side?

Nope,

Installation manual does not make specific reference to requiring that

Specific reference is made to not overtighten the bolts, use the provided torque values

Good Day Gents.

If you visit the site http://www.rotax-aircraft-engines.com/d ... x/tabid-49 you can download the documents you need. You can even search all the Service Bulletins etc as relevent to your specific engine. Just type in the serial number and select the applicable document type.

This is the place that i normally use when conducting the annual inspection to validate the status of the engine. You can also make a printout of the relevant documents and leave that in the logbook for future use, or to sign out that specific tasks has been carried out.

Greetings and fly safe
