I would think it would those two vertical fins above the wheels

Those should be easy to remove, take them off and try again

No, that keeps me in a straight line, and it worked well enough with the shorter screen.
I think I am just going to put back the shorter screen.

Am I correct in saying that the spats are there to add stability, and that you cannot fly the trike without them? (At at some point in the speed range, the pod will strat to fly)

Exactly
I had slightly smaller spats on 2 weeks ago and at 80mph the pod pulls skew, start swinging (flying on its own) and feels vary scary, one really needs to focus to keep the pod under the wing.
This now is a new design from Aeros Ucraine, and works for me.
The screen, (my own) now makes the trike fly at 15 odd degrees, angle horizontal to the wing..../

Hi Conrad,

I don't think that it is the screen.

Make sure that you have equal toe-in setting on the spats. If they are the same then try increasing the toe-in setting using washers as spacers.

The toe-in setting on a GT450 is about 8 to 10 degrees combined. This assists greatly with directional control.

A car with a toe-out setting is impossible to drive at higher speeds.

Simple case of ellimination. If it didn't do it before the last change you made then remove the ast change and go back to what was there before. if it goes away it means it was the last change you made. If that turns out to be the screen then you know why it came with a small one from the factory....

Frightening!

I was thinking about fitting one to my Aquilla. Are there any known issues with this?

Thank you Stephan
Yes, and I did..
I know it is the screen but my thoughts is how,
A screen is only (mostly) there to just direct wind off your face..
But

Hi Conrad

I investigated the screen enlargement issue with Rainbow a few years back.
We found the following:

a)A Normal Cobra with no exsta screen - the pod(faring) starts to fly above 80mph. Resulting in 1) an deg. deviation normally to the right 2) Osselating of the faring.
b)We added a Screen - the faring starts to deviate sooner at 70mph.

To counter act this senario (a):
is to push front wheel to the right - this helps the penetration line to be straight.Wheel acts like a rudder.
To counter act this senario (b):
is to ad more surface behind you centre line of the proppellor(looking from the side) - i.a.w bigger spats behind your prop. The Batman spats was born to stabelice trike.

Thus : the more surface you put infront the more you need to counter behind prop. This applies only to Trikes(pucher conv.)

Well I moved away from Batman spats idee and screen. Now @ 80mph I "trap" the front wheel and eat distance.

Cheers
