There is a gadget at aviation engines. It's a three way claw that you hammer in the ground. Works very well. The more you pull on it the tighter the grip.

I simply use more tent pegs. If you use 3 (like claw) per rope then it a MOERSE wind....

With tent pegs, if the ground's too soft they just pull out and if the ground's too hard or rocky you can't hit them in. Get the claw (expensive) or copy. Better than spending the night clinging to the bar wishing you spent a bit more. :)

Claw uses same tent peg type "pegs".. The sand or storm pegs (v shape) work very well in most condition. Obviously if you cant get it into the ground you stuffed, but so is the claw... (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)

Tent pegs are fine but I got tired of battling to get them into hard ground. They bend.

I got the claw as shown above and its a winner. Goes into anything and will never come loose. I bit expensive but if you can get them you will not look back.

I rekon given some engineer thought you could make a "CLAW" with 9 inch nails. Theory is to counteract the force of the rope. the nails go in easily. I have seen some huge ones at the camp shops with a big flat head that go into anything. All you then need is a base plate of some sort to spread the load with eye in middle for the rope...

Easier to buy the claw, but more fun to make your own....
