FUEL FLOW 'PROBLEM' resolved.

Postby patsy » Thu Dec 10, 2009 12:36 pm

I write this with a certain amount of embarrassment but at the same time hope that this admission will help others who may have similar 'problems'.
On the 18.11.09 I asked for help in resolving my Kitfox's fuel flow problems.
I was overwhelmed with helpful theories and advice. Thank you Mogas, Morph, Oupa-G,Tailspin and Justin.
At about this time my licence came up for renewal, so to prepare, I went for a bit of 'Recurrency Training' with Marc Gregson at Panorama. Marc identified a couple of bad habits I'd picked up in the last two years.
One of them was the way I was flying, I was over controlling the 'plane and this caused a 'pilot induced oscillation'. This is what caused the fuel to flow from one tank to the other and also for the fuel to feed to the carb. from one tank only.
So, it turns out that I was the problem and that I needed to be sorted out. This has happened already and I feel much better for it. So does the 'plane I'm sure.
Thankfully, there is nothing wrong with the 'plane or it's fuel system at all.
Thanks again to all you Microlighters for your help and my apologies if I wasted your time.
